The friendship between Haydn and Mozart is one of the finest examples of mutual respect and inspiration in music history. The older Haydn admired the genius of his younger colleague, while Mozart diligently studied and further developed his master's innovations. When the two oratorios of the evening, Te Deum and Harmoniemesse, were composed, Haydn was already a recognized composer who moved in the most distinguished circles at the Esterházy Palace. Mozart's Sinfonia concertante could not have been created without the influence of the most progressive workshop of the time, the Mannheim court orchestra.
On this evening, conducted by Róbert Farkas, we will hear Barnabás Kelemen and his son Gáspár Kelemen in the double concerto, while the Scottish National Choir will take to the stage with Éva Marton's students, who are continuing the legacy of this influential dramatic soprano and teacher.
