Our festive concert evokes many aspects of Christmas musical traditions. Excerpts from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite – the Dance of the Snowflakes or the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy – bring to life the wonder of childhood through E. T. A. Hoffmann's magical tale, while Sándor Szokolay's Hungarian Christmas presents the immaculate beauty of nativity traditions and folk songs in a moving arrangement. Humperdinck's suite Hansel and Gretel features lyrical and playful excerpts from the romantic fairy tale opera. The Magnificat Girls' Choir will perform in the first half of the evening, with the choir and orchestra conducted by Valéria Szebellédi.
