In the first half of our concert, among deep brass instruments, the prominent role falls on the trombones. The composer of the first opus, Roland Szentpáli is both an outstanding tuba player and a composer. His style is characterized by the sophisticated blending of classical, jazz and pop music. Vinicio Meza was born in Central-America, in Costa-Rica. In his concerto to four trombones, the music of his homeland gives the keynote, with a diverse rhythm and many percussion instruments. The soloist of the piece travelled here from Szeged; their noted band was founded by their college tutor, György Gyivicsán. The last piece appears in the program on the occasion of the upcoming Christmas holiday. The conductor of the concert is Róbert Farkas, who started his studies at the Academy of Music in Budapest and finished them in Berlin. He has been living in Germany ever since, conducting the performances of numerous opera houses, but he is coming home to hold concerts more and more often. He will be the chief conductor of our orchestra from the 2021-2022 season.
