We were fortunate to witness memorable and heartwarming moments on the afternoon of March 5, when, in the garden of our orchestra’s headquarters, conductor Gergely Kesselyák planted a linden tree. The occasion commemorated the fact that, in the previous season, our concert performance of Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca, conducted by him, won the Fidelio Award for Best Concert-Style Opera Performance of 2025.
At this special event, Director György Lendvai praised the outstanding collaboration of more than fifteen years with Kesselyák, highlighting that the operas he has conducted have significantly expanded the orchestra’s repertoire—something warmly appreciated by audiences as well.
Also present at the tree-planting ceremony was András Várhegyi, editor-in-chief of Fidelio, who expressed how honored he felt that their recognition would live on in such a unique and symbolic way.
Once again, we would like to thank our audience for contributing to this award with their votes!
