It is a great honour for the M\u00c1V Symphony Orchestra to give two concerts in Budapest under the baton of Christoph Eschenbach<\/strong>, one of the most intoxicating conductors. On October 26 <\/strong>at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music and on October 27 at the Pesti Vigad\u00f3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Christoph Eschenbach<\/strong> was born in Wroc\u0142aw, Poland in 1940. His parents died in the war and he grew up an orphan. His musical talent was discovered by his mother's cousin. He first learnt piano, but studied conducting as well. In 1962, he won the prestigious ARD International Music Competition in Munich, which brought him international recognition. Influenced by mentors such as Gy\u00f6rgy Sz\u00e9ll and Herbert von Karajan, he conducted more and more: in the 1980s, he was the artistic director of the Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich, later working in Houston, Philadelphia and Paris. He was the director of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and was also the leader of the NDR Symphony Orchestra. Between 2010 and 2017, he directed the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington, D.C., but guest appearances always had a prominent role in his life. Among others, he conducted the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmoniker, the La Scala Milan, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Staatskapelle Dresden. Christoph Eschenbach is also committed to nurturing young talents and seeks out those who are \"one hundred percent artists\".<\/p>\n

The young, highly talented soloists chosen by the composer for both concerts will be violinist Amira Abouzahra and pianist Zolt\u00e1n Fej\u00e9rv\u00e1ri<\/strong>, who will perform Mendelssohn's Double Concerto in D minor<\/strong>, written by the composer when he was 14 years old in 1823.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
