In recent decades, the name Gilles Apap has become synonymous with bold experimentation and crossing genre boundaries. Yehudi Menuhin once called the Algeria-born, France-raised artist a true violinist of the 21st century, who has uniquely blended elements of classical and folk music throughout his career.
This time, he once again brings new colors to the concert hall: he performs one of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s violin concertos with his own cadenza, then plays Irish, American, and French folk music, and finally showcases his passion for the swing genre through light yet technically demanding compositions. His program is both a tribute to tradition and a compelling demonstration that the language of music speaks to everyone without boundaries.
