Our planet is our home—every action and every step, no matter how small, matters in protecting it.
Have you ever thought about how much a symphony orchestra and its community can do to protect the environment and help sustain a world that remains livable and meaningful for all of us?
When we talk about sustainability and environmental protection, other sectors are usually the first to come into focus. Yet it is undeniable that everyone’s attitude, actions, and willingness to rethink habits matter—including ours.
The founding of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra in 1945 was itself driven by a commitment to the public good. Now, 80 years later, our core mission is increasingly intertwined with environmental awareness. We are dedicated to “looking around our own house,” examining our operations and identifying how we can contribute to reducing our environmental impact—efforts that also go hand in hand with responsible resource management.
Last year, as a more energy-efficient solution, we replaced the previous heating system at our new headquarters with a heat pump and renewed our selective waste collection system. This year, with the support of our expert partner MN6 Energy Agency, we are preparing a carbon footprint assessment for the orchestra, identifying all areas where we can take action to protect our immediate environment and natural world.
We aim to turn the individual commitment of our musicians into a shared strength across our entire community in the field of environmental awareness—and we warmly invite our audience and partners to join us in this effort.
