This programme offers an almost complete portrait of Mozart in a single evening, tracing the composer’s early, mature, and late creative periods. The overture to his final opera, The Magic Flute, reveals both the mystical and playful nature of initiation rituals, with the symbolic prominence of the number three, so significant in Freemasonry.
The programme continues with the graceful and charming Flute Concerto in G major, composed during Mozart’s stay in Paris, a work that perfectly embodies the effortless beauty of his musical language. The soloist is the Greek flautist Stathis Karapanos, one of Europe’s most sought-after rising stars.
The concert concludes with the celebrated "Jupiter" Symphony, one of Mozart’s final masterpieces. Its majestic opening chords inspired the work’s nickname, invoking the king of the Roman gods. This crowning achievement of Viennese Classicism is conducted by the Japanese maestro Riku Okamoto, joint second-prize winner of last year’s Antal Doráti International Conducting Competition.
