The MÁV Symphony Orchestra invites audiences to a very special concert on 12 June 2026 in the elegant Mirror Hall of Festetics Palace. Entitled Contradances, the programme celebrates the elegance of the Classical era through the music of Mozart and Haydn, while also shining a light on the remarkable story of an exceptional musical family.
The evening's soloist is the Vienna-based violinist Orsolya Korcsolán, who has performed in many of the world's leading concert halls alongside distinguished musicians throughout her international career. After graduating from Budapest's Liszt Academy, she continued her studies at The Juilliard School in New York, where she was a student of the legendary Dorothy DeLay and Itzhak Perlman. Renowned for combining dazzling technical mastery with profound musical expression, she has long been a cherished returning guest artist of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra.
In Joseph Haydn's Violin Concerto in G major, Orsolya Korcsolán performs one of the finest concertos of the Classical repertoire, a work that perfectly showcases both the brilliance and the lyrical, singing quality of the violin.
The programme is built around two sets of Mozart's Contradances and his radiant Symphony No. 29 in A major. The dances evoke the light-hearted elegance of eighteenth-century ballroom culture, while the symphony reveals the remarkable maturity of the young Mozart. Playful, lyrical, and full of vitality, it beautifully embodies the grace and balance of the Classical style.
The concert will be conducted by Nátán Sugár, one of the most promising young conductors of the Hungarian and Austrian music scenes. Despite his young age, he already appears regularly with Hungary's leading orchestras. During the 2025/26 season he serves as assistant to Petr Popelka, Chief Conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, while pursuing his conducting studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in the class of Andrés Orozco-Estrada. As a returning guest conductor of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra, he has repeatedly impressed audiences with his exceptional musicianship and inspiring artistic personality.
Adding a unique dimension to the evening is the fact that the soloist and conductor are mother and son. Their collaboration represents far more than a professional partnership—it is a celebration of a profound personal and artistic bond. Their instinctive musical understanding, unspoken communication, and mutual trust create an intimate dialogue on stage, offering audiences a truly rare and unforgettable concert experience.
