Join us for a captivating evening of classical masterpieces, featuring a brilliant blend of elegance, drama, and pure joy. This program highlights two of the most celebrated composers of the Classical era, with a special nod to an often-overlooked contemporary.

The evening opens with Georg Christoph Wagenseil's Concerto in E-flat major for Alto Trombone and Orchestra, IGW 6. A prominent figure in Viennese musical life who predated Mozart, Wagenseil was a key influence on the emerging Classical style. This charming concerto showcases the alto trombone in a surprisingly agile and lyrical light, revealing the instrument's expressive capabilities beyond its typical ceremonial role.

Next, we dive into the youthful genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with his effervescent Violin Concerto No. 5 in A major, K. 219. Nicknamed the "Turkish" for its exotic and energetic final movement, this concerto is a highlight of Mozart's early period. The piece shifts from graceful, operatic melodies to a spirited finale that playfully imitates the sound of a Janissary military band, promising a delightful and unpredictable ride for both the audience and the soloist.

The program culminates with Mozart's radiant Symphony No. 29 in A major, K. 201. Written when he was just 18, this symphony is considered a milestone in his development, showcasing a new level of maturity and sophistication. With its lively, dance-like themes, refined textures, and a thrillingly energetic finale, the Symphony No. 29 is a perfect example of why Mozart's early works are just as captivating as his later masterpieces.
