The festive concert of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra will begin with the most beautiful Hungarian Christmas choral melodies, and Dénes Szabó's ensembles, the Cantemus Choir of Nyíregyháza Pro Musica Women's choir will also be on stage. Miklós Kocsár and Sándor Szokolay have arranged folk songs of the holiday season in their pieces for choir and orchestra, melodies that most of us have known since childhood. And Ernő Dohányi's uniquely witty - and at times almost tragic - series of variations on the melody of Hull a pelyhes... was born. The work is performed by the Liszt and Lajtha prize-winning virtuoso József Balog. The evening will close with one of the unmissable gems of Christmas music, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, featuring The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairyand the dizzying Waltz of the Flowers. The first part of the concert will be conducted by Dénes Szabó, choirmaster, and the second part by Róbert Farkas, principal conductor of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra.
