Fairies and mythical creatures come to life in this colorful concert, which guides the listener from Romanticism to vibrant modernity. Felix Mendelssohn’s incidental music for A Midsummer Night’s Dream was written for the famous Shakespeare comedy, and the overture’s iconic opening chords immediately transport us into a dream world.
Max Bruch’s greatest masterpiece, the Violin Concerto in G minor, will be performed with exceptional authenticity and virtuosity by Giuseppe Gibboni, winner of the Paganini Prize.
The evening concludes with Igor Stravinsky’s first worldwide success, The Firebird, which brings to life the magical creature of Russian folklore. This time, the MÁV Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by returning guest conductor Gábor Káli, who enjoys success both internationally and in Hungary.
