Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) is one of the greatest of the many great composers in the history of music, and an outstanding composer of the Romantic era. All of Brahms’ works bear the mark of the composer's distinctive personality, yet each has a different character. The program of our concert greatly illustrates this phenomenon: the Academic Festival Overture is on of his few joyful pieces, the Violin Concerto is a piece reflecting his deep respect for Beethoven, and the last symphony is a great piece that comprises everything.

The soloist of the Violin Concerto, Kirill Troussov, was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and now lives in Germany. He has accompanied our orchestra on numerous occasions, always with great success. Thomas Sanderling is the son of the famous Russian conductor Kurt Sanderling. He was born in 1942 in Novosibirsk, Russia, but moved to Germany at a young age and studied conducting in Berlin. From the 1960s, he was the chief conductor in various opera houses and orchestras in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands, and from the 1990s, he returned to Russia, where he was a music director in his native city.
