CONDUCTOR
Valentin Urjupin

Two outstanding, young Russian guest musicians will make this concert very special. Kirill Troussov is a familiar face for the audience of the MÁV concerts. He was born in Saint Petersburg, and at the age of eight he was already the soloist of an orchestra concert. He moved to Germany with his family, where he finished his studies and has been travelling around the world ever since, performing ever more successful concerts. Valentin Uryupin was born in 1985. He started his musical career as a clarinet player, but his conducting talent was revealed soon enough. He successfully performed at international competitions and won the Sir Georg Solti International Conducting Competition in Frankfurt in 2017. He conducted in numerous opera houses worldwide and was the assistant of Valery Gergiev and Vladimir Jurowski. He conducted more than 30 operas and a large number of musical pieces. He was a guest conductor at several countries. The famous Violin Concerto of Sibelius speaks in the language of the great Finnish composer: it is filled with the mood of harsh northern landscapes, the inscape of a Finnish man in constant battle with nature and mysterious ancient legends. Symphony No. 10 of Shostakovich debuted in December 1953, following the death of Stalin. This was the first symphonic piece from the composer after five years of silence, full of characteristic secret hints and ciphers. He referred to the second movement Scherzo as the musical portrait of Stalin.
