A violin concerto full of sweeping momentum and enchanting melodies will be performed at the MÁV Symphony Orchestra's evening concert. The work by contemporary Finnish composer Jaakko Kuusisto captivates listeners not only with its technical virtuosity, but also with its emotional depth. Kuusisto, himself an outstanding violinist and scion of a renowned musical family, entrusted the performance of this piece to someone else: he composed the concerto specifically for Elina Vähälä, who now considers it her mission to introduce the world to the oeuvre of the composer, who died tragically young in 2022. The second half of the concert, conducted by Gábor Káli, features Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2, one of the most emotional and sweeping works by the romantic Russian composer, in which the orchestra can unfold in all its splendor.
