Few works are more iconic in the world of opera than Tosca, an adaptation of the play by French playwright Victorien Sardou, which, thanks to Puccini's genius, has achieved the eternal status of a masterpiece. Set in Rome at the end of the 18th century, the story is a thriller and tragedy of fate about a woman who must choose between personal ambition, political considerations and love. Puccini's play is also a favourite with audiences thanks to its great interludes, E lucevan le stelle ("And the stars were shining") and Vissi d'arte. This time, the leading roles are played by Hungarian stars such as Csilla Boross, Attila Fekete and Levente Molnár. The orchestra will be conducted by the unofficial ambassador of the opera genre, Franz Liszt Prize winner Gergely Kesselyák.
