The MÁV Symphony Orchestra bids farewell to the 2021/2022 season with a masterclass and a concert tour abroad

The leadership of our orchestra deems it important to occasionally invite the guest artists who join the orchestra as soloists or conductors to give a masterclass. These events contribute to the advancement of national secondary and higher music education, and to the high-quality training of students.

The Festetics series, conducted by the world-famous Ukrainian violinist Michael Vaiman, will be concluded with a concert featuring works by Tchaikovsky and Arensky, accompanied by two Mozart concertos, the famous Violin Concerto in G major and the “large concert” for two violins, the Concertone. Michael Vaiman will be joined for the performance, by his former pupil Alexandre Dimcevski.

On 11 June 2022, Michael Vaiman gave a masterclass for the most outstanding violin students of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in the rehearsal hall of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra. Among the participants was Anna Gajvoronskaya, an Ukrainian refugee studying in Budapest György Lendvai of the violinist György Lendvai, Executive Director of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra – who received a special welcome by the Maestro. Michael Vaiman has been a professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln since 1999, and has taught in England, the USA, China and Japan.

Tour - Croatia, Italy

In the past two years, the MÁV Symphony Orchestra had little opportunity to perform abroad. It was a great pleasure to give a concert of varied works at the Academy of Music Academy in Zagreb on June 9, 2022, conducted by Lorenzo Porzio . Our guest musician, Cristiana Pegoraro, a popular soloist in prestigious concert halls around the world, played piano.

The tour continued on June 12, at the Teatro Dal Verme in Milan, and on June 13, at the Teatro Il Maggiore in Verbania, Elena Casella was conducted by Elena Casella.
