Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis is often described as more than a liturgical work—it is a profound spiritual experience reflecting the composer’s deeply personal faith, one that transcends denominational boundaries. It is a universal profession of faith expressed through the language of music.

Monumental in scale, dramatic in conception, and exalted in spirit, the Missa Solemnis challenges performers and listeners alike. Yet those who open themselves to its message are rewarded with an extraordinary and deeply moving inner journey. The prayers of the chorus and soloists, together with the orchestra’s overwhelming power, all pose the same timeless question: Can we still believe in love?

Beethoven’s famous answer appears on the title page of the score: “From the heart—may it go to the heart.”

This monumental performance brings together an outstanding cast of distinguished opera singers alongside the Hungarian National Choir. The concert is conducted by János Kovács, recipient of the Kossuth Prize and the Liszt Ferenc Prize, Permanent Member and Master Artist of the Hungarian State Opera.
