Fazıl Say is a pianist with a unique voice whose repertoire—ranging from Bach to Gershwin to his own compositions—has dazzled audiences in prestigious concert halls around the world. He is a prolific composer whose oeuvre is an exciting synthesis of classical music, jazz and Turkish folk music – both virtuosic and deeply personal. His latest piano concerto, Mother Earth, premiered at the Osaka World Expo in May this year, also aims to embrace the whole world. No less exotic listening is offered by two works by Ravel, the quietly melancholic Pavane and the captivating Daphnis and Chloé, the highly successful ballet of turn-of-the-century Paris.
